BIT Held Matchmaking Meeting of Cirrus Project and Job Fair for BIT Foreign Students

In recent years, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) follows the major strategy of China, Belt and Road Initiative , and actively develops the high-level admission platforms and student bases in the countries involved the Belt and Road Initiative . The number of students from foreign countries in China increases rapidly. More than 70 percent of over 1900 foreign students comes from the Belt and Road Initiative countries. While working hard to improve education quality of foreign students, strengthening and supporting the construction of security system, BIT are cooperating closely with the government and non-government institutions in order to create more employment and internship opportunities for foreign students. Through these acts, the education environment of BIT for foreign students has been improved and optimized.
On the afternoon of March 28, the matchmaking meeting of Cirrus Project and the job fair for BIT foreign students were held in the Weishi lecture hall of BIT Gymnasium. This is the first job fair for foreign student held by BIT in 2017. This activity was jointly hosted by the Office of International students and Zhongguancun Industry Promotion Association of the Belt and Road Initiative, and was supported strongly by Office of Recruitment and Employment.
The deputy district head of Haidian District Li Changping, president assistant of BIT Long Teng, representative of Zhongguancun Industry Promotion Association of the Belt and Road Initiative Zhang Xiaodong, vice-director of the Management Committee of Haidian Ren Huangying, director of the BIT Office of Admission and Employment Li Zhenjian, representatives of 30 enterprises and more than 200 foreign students attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by director of the Office of International Students Wang Ying.
President Assistant Long Teng said in his speech that BIT laid great emphasis on the foreign student employment guidance, social practice and innovation and entrepreneurship. As there are now more and more foreign students coming to BIT, BIT will work with the government and non-government organizations, such as Management Committee of Haidian and Zhongguancun Industry Promotion Association of the Belt and Road Initiative, to provide more employment and internship opportunities for outstanding foreign students of BIT, to spare no effort to construct the social service system for foreign students, and to improve their education experience in China, in the hope of cultivating more high-level, versatile, and international talents who are familiar with both China and the world and willing to contribute to the successful implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative .
Li Changping congratulated on the smooth development of Cirrus Project and success of the meeting. She said as the national science and technology innovation center, Haidian district will be a major power in supporting and promoting the development of the Belt and Road Initiative . The Haidian government and Zhongguancun Management Committee will encourage and support more enterprises to join Cirrus Project so as to develop an international innovation capacity, benefit the local people, and be the good examples of the Belt and Road Initiative . Li hopes that more excellent foreign students would join the project, learn from it and have a better future because of it.
Zhang Xiaodonng said in his speech that Cirrus Project is one of the most important work of Zhongguancun Industry Promotion Association of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Project aims to recruit more excellent foreign talents; satisfy the Zhongguancun enterprises’ needs for talents; pass the Chinese technology innovation to the countries joined the Belt and Road Initiative ; promote rapid expand and in-depth integration of Chinese products and technology services; provide necessary international personnel support for the Belt and Road Initiative in all fields.
Later, Wang Ying and Zhang Xiaodong signed the Cirrus Project cooperation agreement. Long Teng awarded Zhang Xiaodong the plaque, Foreign Students Employment and Internship Base of BIT and Zhongguancun Industry Promotion Association of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Some of the enterprise representatives briefly introduced their company’s basic situation and competitive advantages. Li Changping, Long Teng and Zhang Xiaodong awarded three enterprise representatives plaque Foreign Students Employment and Internship Base .
The Job Fair held later attracted more than 300 foreign students who are going to graduate from BIT this year or soon. The Fair was crowded with young talents and the vibe was great. Students all had their well-prepared resume with them and got to know a bit more about all those companies in the fair. They had in-depth conversations with the enterprise representatives and got to know the company’s needs and related matters in details. Everyone going to the Job Fair was confident and enthusiastic. They are thankful for this Job Fair as well as the employment and internship opportunity that the school provide. All the students appreciate this chance and they hope they can find a satisfying job or internship position in the Fair or stay in China to find job or internship position later on. Some of them hope to continue to experience the rapid development and infinite charm of China, while some will go back to their homeland with the hope of becoming an important link in the communication between Chinese enterprises as well as Chinese schools and their homeland, and keeping making positive contribution to promoting the communication and cooperation between two countries. According the enterprises, the 30 participating enterprises received roughly 400 resumes in and after the Fair. In the hope of both students and enterprises, the Job Fair provide a platform and an opportunity for outstanding foreign students of BIT to show the society how remarkable they have become during their school years in BIT.

2015 doctoral students Fatima Zahra AINOU of the BIT School of Management and Economics: Although there is still time before I graduate, when I received the notice of the Job Fair for BIT Foreign Students, I decided immediately to attend the Fair so as to gain an in-depth understanding of the Chinese high-tech enterprises. This activity moved me, as we foreign students are meeting with a lot of problems in employment in China and communicating with the Chinese enterprises. But Cirrus Project aims to solve the problems, which is helpful for foreign students. I think that providing an employment service platform for foreign students and China enterprises and carrying out matchmaking activities can not only make foreign students’ understanding China enterprises better, but also provide support and help for Chinese enterprises. I hope in the future we can establish Zhongguancun Industrial Agglomeration Area and let China's high and new technology be recognized worldwide.

2015 master student Kim Hyunjeong of the BIT School of Life Science: I appreciate for this chance provided by the Office of International Students. I had prepared ahead of time according to the lists of enterprises the school provided and did a thorough research on those companies on the lists. The consultation in the Job Fair was well targeted and I have made acquaintance with staffs of those companies and communicated with them. I hope that BIT can provide more chances like this Job Fair for foreign students.
Exchange student Li Guanhua from Electronic Science and Technology of the BIT School of Information and Electronics: the Job Fair for BIT Foreign Students is a rare opportunity. In the Fair, every company had the simple but detailed introduction, main development direction of company, talents they need and the areas they want to further develop in. Through these, I have a relatively full understanding of the Zhongguancun high-tech enterprises. Besides, through this Job Fair, I realize that I need to improve quickly. The matchmaking meeting and the Job Fair surely deserves a praise and more support.

The Fair brought the high-tech technology to campus and the staff there can communicate with foreign students in English, which was pretty awesome.
