BIT International Students Attend UNESCO Courier Issue Event

¡¡¡¡On May 13, 2017, the ceremony for the first issue of Courier magazine (Chinese Edition) by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. UESCO, the Publicity Department of CPC, the Ministry of Education and UESCO Chinese Committee jointly hosted the ceremony and China Publishing Group was the organizer of the event. Attendants of the event included the UNESCO delegation, representatives in the China office of international organizations, envoys from embassies from the Belt and Road Initiative related countries in China, and international student representatives. Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) sent 30 outstanding international students from the Initiative related countries to the event, such as Poland, Lithuania, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Georgia, Pakistan, Palestine, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Turkey and so forth.

¡¡¡¡Since the primary publication of the magazine in 1948, Courier has always adhered to UESCO¡¯s mission and focused on the major topics concerning the survival and development of humanity. Being the pioneer to spread UESCO¡¯s values and to promote dialogue among civilizations, Courier has led the international development on UESCO¡¯s key areas, such as education, science and culture. The Courier magazine is UESCO¡¯s most popular journal within UN members and has the longest history. With the support of Chinese government, Courier is reissued in 2017 and its Chinese edition is published for the first time.

¡¡¡¡BIT has actively responded to the UNESCO¡¯s initiative on the promotion of cultural diversity and the Belt and Road Initiative, China¡¯s key development strategy, and will further strengthen the international communication and cooperation on education, science and culture. After the ceremony, BIT international student representatives take a group photo with Miss Irina Bokova, head of UNESCO.
