BIT professors¡¯ translation of Colgone Commentary on Space Law released in Vienna

¡¡¡¡On March 29, 2017, the book launch ceremony of the translation of Commentary on Space Law (Vol. 1) was held at the Germany ambassador's residence in Vienna. The work is translated by the space law research group of professor Li Shouping from the School of Law of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). More than 40 people attended the ceremony, including the representatives of delegations of the United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and the editors, authors, as well as translators. Ambassador Shi Zhongjun of the Mission of China to the United Nations Office in Vienna and Other International Organizations was invited to attend and address the ceremony.

¡¡¡¡Commentary on Space Law (Vol. 1) was published in 2009, compiled by the globally distinguished experts organized by the University of Cologne and German space administration in 5 years, which is one of the most influential space law works internationally at present. Volume 1 is the item-by-item commentary on Outer Space Treaty published in 1967, which is honored as the footstone of international space law. In honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Outer Space Treaty, German space administration entrusted space law research institute of BIT and Russian experts on space law with the translation in Chinese and Russian. The Mission of German to United Nations Office in Vienna took the opportunity of the 54th Session of the Legal Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, held the launch ceremony of Chinese version and Russian version.

¡¡¡¡In the speech, Ambassador Shi Zhongjun of the Mission of China to the United Nations Office in Vienna and Other International Organizations highly appreciated the organization unit of the Chinese translation, namely the space law research institute of BIT, and the outstanding achievements of the translation team. Ambassador Shi Zhongjun deemed that, the Chinese translation is a promotor of the education and research of space law in China and means a lot to the deployment guidance to the aerospace practices department, and looked forward to the publication of Volume 2 and Volume 3. The Mission of Russia to the United Nations Office in Vienna attended and addressed the launch ceremony as well. The launch ceremony was hosted by Germany ambassador in Vienna Fredrich Dauble.

¡¡¡¡Commentary on Space Law was issued under the general editorship of the adjunct professor of the School of Law of BIT and director of the aerospace law research institute of the University of Cologne Stephan Hobe et al. The translation of Commentary on Space Law (Vol. 1) was hosted by the dean of the School of Law and director of the space law research institute of BIT Li Shouping. The translation team is composed of the associate professor of the space law research institute of BIT Wang Guo Yu, the secretary general of China Space Law Academy Zhang Zhenjun, as well as the associate professor of the School of Law of the Central University of Finance and Economics Wu Xiaodan.
