School of Chemical Engineering and Environment (SCEE)
School of chemical engineering & environment (SCEE) is originally developed from the former department of chemical engineering of Yan’an Natural Science college, which was founded in 1940. There are about 84 faculty members in SCEE, among them are 20 full-time professors, 20 doctoral supervisors, and 33 associate professors. Over 80% of the faculty members hold doctoral degrees and over 40% of the members own oversea research experience. SCEE has one Changjiang Innovation Group, one Changjiang Professor, one Chair-professor of 973 project, one national professor of special contribution, and 4 New Century Excellent Talents of Education Ministry. Several outstanding members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Prof. Yi Baolian; Prof. Jin Yong; Prof. Li Can) also have been employed as council professors of SCEE. SCEE has about 612 undergraduates and 455 graduates in school. Elite students from all of the country study in good academic atmosphere of SCEE have gained excellent achievement.
SCEE is set up with 4 departments: Department of Applied Chemistry &Pharmacy, Department of Chemical Engineering & Control, Department of Environment and Energy, and Department of Energy Chemical Engineering.; 4 research centers: “R &D Center for Pharmaceuticals”, “Fine Chemical Industry Development Center”, “National High-Tech Green Material Development Center”, and “Research Center for Ecological Industry”. One institute: “Institute of Chemical and Energy Materials”. One postdoctoral station: “Chemical Engineering and Technology”. One key laboratory of Beijing: “Environmental &Technology”. In recent years, the school has been granted with several national key projects, such as the “973 Plan”, “863 Plan” and the National Natural Science Foundation. SCEE has been made great achievement in scientific research and industrialization of technologies.
SCEE has established many co-operative relationships with world's leading universities regarding on academic exchange, staff training and co-operative research programs. There is a joint program of “Process Engineering for MS” and a joint admissions for postgraduate with Queen’s University Belfast, a joint programs for undergraduate with Corrbus Universities of Germany and Leicester Universities of UK. SCEE also has been devoted to sent and accept many visiting-scholars and exchanging-scholars with other universities all over the world, such as USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy.
SCEE aims to foster the students with comprehensive professional essentials and establish the learning style of “Vigor, Diligence, Truthfulness and Innovation”. The innovation spirit and independent ability in scientific research are highly encouraged and trained. In the past 70 year’s history, over 8000 students have graduated from SCEE. Some of them have been made great contribution to the development of the country in many fields including education, industry, and government.
